Givingism Nonprofit Content Policy

Nonprofit Content Policy

What is the Content Policy

The content policy is an outline for the type of content that users are allowed to upload to Givingism. This includes the type of information permitted in descriptions or images of products, organizations, or any other info you are able to manipulate on Givingism. Givingism can remove users for any reason at any time as outlined by our Nonprofit Participation Agreement. We understand that every user will have a unique voice, but we also recognize that every voice will reflect the community as a whole, so the goal of these guidelines is to maintain a balance between respecting your image, our own, and other users within the Givingism community.

Why is this needed?

Since Givingism hosts many different businesses and nonprofits, any content uploaded to the platform by a User has the potential to impact other Users, likewise, content quality tends to reflect on the platform as a whole rather than any individual organization. Therefore, in order to protect the integrity and image of Givingism and its affiliates we try to maintain consistent content policies across the platform.

Policies

General Guidelines

All content and activity should comply with agreements and basic legal requirements like copyright law and intellectual property. Likewise, content should not be hateful, overtly inflammatory, or aggressive toward other ideologies/people. All content should also be high-quality. Misspellings, poor grammar, or low-quality images/videos or low-quality images, texts, or files may result in you needing to reupload new content. Continuous or significant policy violations may result in account suspension.

Image Quality

Nonprofits will have much more leeway than sellers in how they can present their organization. Requirements simply revolve around maintaining reasonable image quality and keeping content friendly.

  • Blurry images should be avoided. We recommend high resolution images between 1-10 MB.

  • Images should directly represent your organization in some way. For instance, generic stock images should be avoided. Likewise, AI images are highly discouraged. AI touchups are fine, but they should not alter or misrepresent the subject of any image.

  • Any images with text should comply with our text policies.

  • Avoid inflammatory language against other ideologies, religions, or politics. We understand that much of what you do is inherently tied to policymaking, so we try to be reasonable, but a general rule of thumb is to show what you are for, not what you are against.

Text

All descriptions and text should be about your organization. In general, content should avoid inflammatory language or off-topic content.

  • Do not disparage Givingism, its sellers, or other nonprofits on the platform.

  • Avoid inflammatory language against other ideologies, religions, or politics. We understand that much of what you do is inherently tied to policymaking, so we try to be reasonable, but a general rule of thumb is to talk/write about what you are for, not what you are against.

  • Do not promote other platforms that may be considered competitors with Givingism. External links or material prompting users to purchase products or make donations on other platforms is prohibited. You can promote other organizations within Givingism, however.
