In the 1970s, Dave left his job as a pipefitter to become a full-time fisherman, pioneering a catamaran-style reef netting boat with onboard live tanks that transformed the fishing industry. Meanwhile, Barb ran the home front with equal innovation, raising four kids and launching a direct-order system that delivered fresh salmon statewide within hours—a logistical feat well ahead of its time. Inspired by their resourcefulness, Bruce built Barlean’s, a natural health company whose omega-3 supplements became bestsellers across America.
